Upgrade Existing Pieces
The best way to start your remodeling process is by upgrading the pieces you already own! This can range from completely replacing them for new pieces or repurposing them. Start with the focal pieces; these are your sink, bathtub, and vanity.
Sink: There are many ways to upgrade your sink for the effect you desire. Take the size of your bathroom into consideration when making a decision, and have fun with it!
Bathtub: Your bathtub is most likely the first thing you see when walking into your bathroom; make it the focal point! For a spacious bathroom, try a claw-foot tub. Claw-foot tubs are elegant and will give you the luxury experience of a lifetime! You can also experiment with your tub surround. Tub surrounds provide a buffer for any surplus of water and improve the aesthetic of your bathtub. Tub surrounds come in many different non-porous materials, so you have plenty of options!
Vanity: If your bathroom has space for a vanity, try repurposing a vintage one! Repurposing a vintage vanity will add charm to your bathroom. Mix and match modern touches and antiques for a unique feel. Do this by adding a large, modern mirror to your vanity to create the illusion of a bigger, brighter space.
As a bonus, change your light fixtures to match the new aesthetic of your bathroom and consider changing your window treatment if your space has windows.
Add Color
Another great way to improve your bathroom is by changing the color scheme and having fun with bold colors/patterns. You’ll want to start by establishing if you’d like to stick to a color scheme or add pops of color to your space. Experiment with paint patterns and color blocking for your walls. For a bold take, add funky wallpaper either to all your walls or an accent wall!
Have Fun with Décor
Décor brings the fun to any remodeling project, and there are many ways to have fun with décor in your bathroom! Add a focal art piece to tie your space together or a gallery wall of your favorite art pieces. Try being creative with your towel display: fun towel racks, elegant towel chairs, or sleek towel shelves. Lastly, incorporate houseplants! Houseplants are a great way of adding texture and life to your bathroom. They improve the air quality and add some greenery to your space!
Update Flooring
Modernize your flooring by replacing it with marble! Marble flooring will add elegance to your bathroom. If marble doesn’t fit the aesthetic you’re going for, try getting creative with tile! Experimenting with different tile patterns for your flooring will add a unique feel to your space, and there are many options to try! Finally, try sheet linoleum for a pop of color on your floors! Sheet linoleum comes in many bright colors and is splash-resistant, so it’s a great flooring option for your bathroom.
